Product Information

Precious Metal Clay
is a patented material developed by Mitsubishi Materials Corporation of Japan in 1993. The principle ingredient in PMC is tiny metal particles only 20 microns in diameter. As a point of reference,  it would take as many as 25 of these particles to make a single grain of table salt. The remainder of the material consists of water and an organic binder. After firing, both the water and binder have been completely removed, so PMC may be hallmarked and will assay as .999 pure.

Three years after introducing PMC, Mitsubishi Materials Corporation developed a second version, called PMC+ . Marking a historical point in the process of precious metal production,  PMC+ cut the firing time and working temperature of such materials significantly.

Then in 2002 Mitsubishi Materials Corporation developed yet another version of silver clay, called PMC3. By incorporating even smaller particles of silver into the clay like medium, this third generation of PMC fires even cooler than PMC+. PMC3 fires faster and has a higher tensile strength than either of the previous silver clays.

PMC may be hallmarked and will assay as .999 pure.

All three kinds of clay are worked with the same tools, fired in the same kiln, and can be finished in exactly the same way. However, PMC+ and PMC3 fires in a much shorter amount of time and shrinks less!
PMC products can be worked with in much the same manner as modeling clays. Many techniques can be incorporated ranging from hand forming, coiling, throwing on a wheel, and sculpting with
simple tools. The PMC slip can be painted on or dipped. The syringe can be used to make fine detailed pieces, or add detail to a piece formed from the clay PMC.

Finishing is almost as versatile as the forming process. A soft
brass brush
is one of the best ways to begin burnishing your new creation, followed
by a polishing compound and even metal polishing tools. Silver PMC
can be colored  with
liver of sulfur an excellent oxidizer, or colorants
and soldered as with conventional metals.

For Embedding Objects Into PMC+ Try; CZ-Cubic Zirconia, Synthetic Ruby,
Synthetic Sapphire, High Fired Ceramics, Enamel Powder, and More!

Belicone Belicold Silicone mold compound is for making durable cold cast rubber molds. (No heat or vacuum needed) 1:1 ratio 2 part compound can be worked by hand, no other equipment or release needed. Make a high quality detailed mold in 15 minutes! 1.20 lbs is enough to make many small molds.
Especially for use with PMC - Precious Metal Clay and Art Clay products.
Your finished mold can be used over and over. Belicold Belicone Silicone Rubber

Use Belicold compound to preserve interesting textures for use on your PMC designs or to make molds of your best designs! Belicone does not require heat for vulcanization and has 0% shrinkage. It is self-lubricating and no release agents are needed.

To capture a texture, mix the two compound parts together in the amount you need, then press any item into it. Allow the compound to set, then remove the item. To use your mold, simply press your PMC into the mold whenever you want to use that texture.

To make a reusable mold of a finished PMC design, push the finished piece into the prepared Belicold compound and let it set. Please Note: The trick to reproducing a piece from a mold is to press the green PMC into the mold, flatten the back and pop the PMC out of the mold right away. Do not let it dry in the mold. Let your piece dry as usual and fire and finish!

Cork Clay
Burns out during firing!
Full package 8oz  4-1/4"x 6"x 3/4" From Japan
Use as a framework for hollow forms. Dry thoroughly. Cork Clay burns away during firing. Must be kiln fired!
Use cork clay to sculpt designs that you can cover in silver jewelry clay, paste or filigree designs with a clay-filled syringe. When the clay is fired, the cork burns out.
Perfect for hollow beads, detailed and slightly larger designs!

Cork Clay will accept a wide variety of shapes and surface textures, making it well suited as forms around which to create hollow forms. Shape it in your hands or with simple clay tools, dry completely and use with any of the PMC or Art Clay products. If you are pasting over the cork, pre-sand the cork with emery boards to exact its shape. Make sure the cork is completely dry before firing.
